About the Event
If you've ever wanted to try making your own blend of tea, love to drink tea, or have always wondered what a "rubber of whist" is, join us for a very special Jane Austen Tea & Card Party! This event is for ages 5+. Children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
Jane Austen was born and three of her novels were published in December. It's a fine time for tea and cards!
We will have a hands-on tea-crafting workshop and a real tea party complete with shortbread, scones, and tea sandwiches. Wear your hat and dress up if you like!
Jane Austen LOVED playing games and we are going to have several to choose from. The grown-ups will learn Whist; a card game similar to Spades that appears in Austen's novels. The younger set will see (like Lydia Bennet) how many "fish" they can win in a rousing game called Lottery Tickets. Book nerds can test their memory in a match game featuring Austen couples. And Regency Romantics can play "Marrying Mr. Darcy" to see how they do as a debutante. Please register for this event so we know how many cucumber sandwiches to make! ;D
